Rainbow Resort began as a hunting and fishing camp in the early 1940's. Mike Milligan and his family established this wonderful resort to accommodate the enjoyment of Michigan's great outdoors. Through the years, it has seen many years of change.

Welcome to Rainbow Resort Cabins and Canoe Livery on the quiet side of the AuSable River in Mio, Michigan!

Located at the edge of a northern Michigan forest and near the AuSable River and Mio Pond, the Rainbow Resort Cabins & Canoe Livery offers guests a different experience than local area motels. One of our thirteen comfortable cabins is sure to be the perfect getaway for your family. Each cabin has its own charm, but all cabins have basic amenities and access to the resort grounds where you'll find picnic tables, campfire pits with adirondack chairs, charcoal grills, horseshoes, tetherball and volleyball along with a playground area for younger children.

All cabins are equipped with basic cookware and linens.
Each cabin has local television reception; Millie's and Cabin 1 also have satellite television.
K's Kabin and Jessica's Cabin are open year-round; all other cabins are open late April through Thanksgiving.

All cabins and porches are non-smoking per Michigan state law.
Quiet time is dusk, no loud music at any time.
All pets must be pre-approved as not all cabins are pet-friendly. A pet fee and deposit will apply.

Rosa's Cottage:
Rosa's is an enchanting one-bedroom cottage perfect for a small family. It features an eat-in kitchen, a full-size bed in the bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the spacious living room. There is a small water heater in Rosa's Cottage. Ceiling fans in each room circulates the fresh northern air. Suggestion: Rise early enough to enjoy breakfast on the patio overlooking the woods.
It sleeps two adults and two children.

K's Kabin:
K's is a spacious two-bedroom cabin that sleeps six. The cabin is furnished with a queen bed, a full size bed, and an alcove with a daybed and trundle bed. It has a charming country kitchen/dining room and in the living room there's a glass-fronted wood stove for a cozy night in with the family. K's Kabin is available year-round.

Irene's Cabin:
Situated beneath beautiful shade trees, Irene's Cabin will enchant you with its 'Old Italy' decor and fireplace. Two adults and two young children are easily accommodated in this one bedroom cabin.

Jessica's Cabin:
Jessica's has the comforts of home with all the delights of an up-north lodge. The 18' x 30' great room, with it's knotty pine interior and gas fireplace, ensures you never want to leave. Relax out back on an adirondack chair and enjoy the quiet of Antler Creek ravine. Four guests can be accommodated in the queen bedroom and a smaller bedroom that features a handmade log bunk bed. Jessica's Cabin is available year-round.

Millie's Cabin:
Built in 1937, Millie's is a large three bedroom log cabin full of ambiance and history. Gather your family in the great room for an evening together around the old stone fireplace. The recently remodeled bathroom is a bonus! A maximum of six guests can sleep in the king bed, full bed and two twin beds.

Annie's Cabin:
Annie's has one bedroom and a loft, each with a full size bed, and can accommodate two adults and two children. The rustic fireplace with it's wood burning insert is the focal point of the spacious main room. The large screened porch offers guests a place to relax and soak up the simplicity of the northern Michigan woods.

Hickory:
Newly renovated with a knotty pine interior, Hickory has a roomy living area compact kitchen, and two bedrooms -each with a full bed. With a classic "up north" design, returning guests may not recognize the 'old Cabin 3' but will definitely be pleased with the changes.

Joseph's Cabin:
Joseph's Cabin is a surprise waiting to be discovered. Completely remodeled, it's sure to captivate you and exceed your expectations. The first floor master bedroom features a queen bed and the original field stone fireplace with an electric insert. The second bedroom is furnished with a full-size bed. The upstairs loft will delight children and adults alike with it's daybed and trundle bed. The large kitchen and dining area along with the full bath makes this a very comfortable vacation home for up to six guests.

Original Cabins
The original five cabins were built in the 1940's and 50's and have been renovated over the years. They still have their original character but each has it's own theme and they are ideal for a family weekend up north. These cabins have approximately 400-450 square feet of living/sleeping space. Each of the original cabins have a screened porch. Unless noted, the original cabins have 12 gallon water heaters and a shower stall in the bathroom.

~Cabins 1 and 4 are one-bedroom cabins with a full bed in the bedroom and a sleeper-sofa or futon in the living area. They will accommodate two adults and two younger children.

~Cabins 2 is a two-bedroom cabin with a full bed in each bedroom and a futon in the living area. It can accommodate a maximum of four adults and two younger children.

~Cabin 5 is a lodge-style cabin; one large room with a queen bed, kitchen area, dining area and a futon and loveseat sofa. This cabin accommodates a maximum of two adults and two younger children. There is a large water heater in this cabin.

~Cabin 6 is a one-bedroom cabin that has two full size beds. It can accommodate two adults and two children. There is not a sofa in this cabin.
